Thank you to all who participated and made our 1st Annual Couples' Ryder Cup Tournament such a great time.  It was an eventful day, starting strong with a Putt-Putt contest, followed by a 18 hole round of varied formats (6 holes scramble, 6 holes alternate shot, 6 holes best ball), and finishing with a tasty display of hors d'oeuvres.
Congratulations to Dave and Carol Pickering on winning the Team Putt-Putt Contest!
Each format had a different winning team, with the overall winners of combined scores across all formats awarded to Ted Bratschi and Silvia Davis with a low score of 69. Tim and Jillayne Nelson had a strong showing, taking 1st place in the scramble category.  Jim and Nancy Houthoofd took 1st in the best ball, and Roy Bronson and GerreLou Imhoff took 1st in alternate shot.
Congrats to all of our winners, but most importantly, thanks to everyone who participated and made this event so enjoyable.  We look forward to the 2nd Annual Couples' Ryder Cup next season!

Golf in the snow? Masters Scramble Results & Party Fun!

Thanks to the 20 teams who came out to play in our 9 hole Masters scramble event and the 80 who joined us for the Masters Viewing Party!
If the weather channel had happened to be correct, their prediction of sunny and 57 degrees would have been quite a bit nicer than the low 40s and snow flurries we experienced throughout the tournament
Golf in the snow??? Yes, but that didn't stop these 20 teams; a little snow wasn't going to get in their way of fun.  Plus, many got to check "play golf in now" off their bucket list.
Congratulations to Dan Hurlbutt and Mike Nowak on winning the Masters Scramble with a score of 36.  Jim Suehr and Dave Pierce were a close second!  Closest to the pin winners were taken home by Liz Krause and Kait McKinley.  We look forward to doing this next year as well, so keep an eye out.
If you'd like to be updated on upcoming tournaments and scramble, make sure you sign-up to receive updates.

It's Never Too Early to Plan your Golf Event

Planning and running a golf outing can at first glance seem like a daunting task, but if you begin your preparation early, you can relieve the stress that normally builds during the process.  Remember, proper planning will prevent poor performance.

Winter is a good time to make preparations for your summer golf event for a variety of reasons; first you can get a step ahead of the competition; yes as outing planner, you are competing against other golf outings in your area for golf courses, sponsors, donors, players and volunteers.  By getting a jump on the competition, you will get to sponsors and donors before they have already made their decisions on where to spend their sponsorship budget.  Although businesses would love to sponsor every event, they have limits to what they can afford to give.  Also, players and volunteers can only participate in so many events, so if you get them to commit to your event first, you have a better chance of filling your field.
